If these two statements are logically equivalent, then observing a green apple (a nonāblack nonāraven) should confirm that all ravens are black.
This creates a contradiction between:
- formal logic, which treats the statements as equivalent, and
- intuitive confirmation, which treats evidence about apples as irrelevant to ravens.
